Interact Club

By Emily Kratzer

The Interact Club of  Waynesboro High School won the 2013-2014 Presidential Citation on September 11th. The award was presented by Nancy Whitlock who  holds the position of Assistant District Governor. The club met 7 of the 9 criteria including: meeting at least twice each month, assigning each club member a specific role, participate in at least one activity that promotes international understanding, participating in a school or community service project or fundraiser that supports one of the Rotary’s areas of focus, using social networking sites to promote club activities, collaborating with one of the Rotary’s service partners, and participating in a career day activity or mentoring activity. Ms. Carter said that students should join Interact Club because you’re able to “develop leadership skills and will have a place to belong.”

This year the Interact Club already has some service projects running. In October they had the Baby Bottle Campaign, the Elizabeth Mitchell Food drive, and the Fall Festival at Wayne Hills Preschool Center. They also did work promoting Breast Cancer awareness. In November they are doing a Krispy Kreme Donut Fundraiser.
