Sophomore Chevez Harvey has been playing basketball since he was a toddler, and has loved it all along.
“Basketball isn’t something you can just pick up and do, you have to work really hard,” said Harvey.
Harvey played junior varsity last year and started for the team. Now he is on varsity and he doesn’t start.
“It’s different, going from a starting player to sitting the bench most of the game “said Harvey. “I’m only a sophomore, I’ll get my chance”. “Also being a sophomore I can build team chemistry with my fellow underclassmen”.
The giants have a total of five seniors on their team this year.
“There are advantages and disadvantages to having lots of seniors on our team,” said Harvey. One of the advantages is that all of them have played together for awhile and they know how to win games and one of the disadvantages are that they have more experience than you do so they start and you don’t”.
“I think the longer I play the better I’ll get,” said Harvey.
“Harvey will eventually be a really good basketball player, he just needs to keep improving,” said head basketball coach C Jay Dewitt.
